Spoiler DisclaimerSynopsisIt's an icy, snowy Christmas Eve and also the anniversary of the accident that killed Cameron Jackson's husband, but despite his old fears of losing those he loves creeping in, he's determined that things will be different this year. He's been in a relationship with Jason Everson for a year, and along with Cam's daughter, Emma, and their dog, Deefur, they've created a new family. Cam has decided to propose, but with the unexpected commotion of having to rush Deefur to the vet, can he find the right words and the right time to make it happen? And will Jason say yes? ReviewDeefur and the Great Mistletoe Incident is a short story sequel to Deefur Dog that takes place about one year later. Cameron and Jason are in love and have settled in to life together with Cam's daughter, Emma, and their big goofy Great Dane, Deefur. However, with the anniversary of his husband's death in a car accident upon them, Cam is feeling anxious. The old fears of losing those he loves most are haunting him, but Jason is nothing but compassionate and understanding. Those fears are only compounded when Deefur's penchant for eating anything he can get his paws on sends them on an unexpected trip to the vet on Christmas Eve. Cam had been planning to propose to Jason for Christmas, but with everything going on, he struggles to find just the right moment. Deefur and the Great Mistletoe Incident is a sweet little follow-up story for Cam and Jason that's almost like an extended epilogue. It was nice seeing that these two men have created a beautiful family life. Even though Cam's old fears still dog him, he manages to work through them. I like that he included Emma in his decision to propose to Jason, making sure she was okay with it. Deefur may have given them a bit of a scare but all's well that ends well. I enjoyed this little short that really stamped paid to Cam and Jason's relationship. Deefur and the Great Mistletoe Incident can be found in the newest edition of Deefur Dog as a bonus short story. Sensuality Rating Key
1 Heart = Smooching
May contain mild to moderate sexual tension and/or possible implications of something more taking place off canvas, but nothing beyond kissing actually occurs within the text. Our take: These books would be appropriate for teen and sensitive readers.
2 Hearts = Sweet
May contain moderate to high sexual tension which could include passionate clinches that end in cut scenes and/or extremely mild love scenes with virtually no details. Our take: These books should still be appropriate for most mature teens and sensitive readers.
3 Hearts = Sensuous
May contain moderately descriptive love scenes, usually no more than three. Our take: Teen and sensitive readers should exercise caution.
4 Hearts = Steamy
May contain a number of explicitly descriptive love scenes. Our take: Not recommended for under 18 or sensitive readers.
5 Hearts = Scorching
May contain a number of explicitly descriptive love scenes that typically include explicit language and acts which some readers may find kinky and/or offensive. Our take: Definite adults only material, not for the faint of heart.
We always endeavor not to give away endings or major plot twists in either our synopses or reviews, however they may occasionally contain information which some readers might consider to be mild spoilers.
